Last year the Hope For Brady MEGA kit earned almost $250. $250 is my annual goal to be able to donate to the Son Rise Program, regardless of what the kit earns, I will make up the rest from my own pocket each year because this program has been instramental in helping my son make great strides in his recovery. I would love to be able to "pay it forward" each year with my donation. The money donated to the program each year is used directly to help other parents like me learn techniques to help their autistic child develop to their full potential! I beleive in this program with 100% of my heart, I know it works…Brady is the proof of that! Side note: When I went to the program in December 2011 to learn how to help Brady…part of my "tuition" was covered by a scolarship funded by donations! Before I went to Son Rise Brady was COMPLETELY non verbal. See videos of Brady's speech progress via these links:
Here is a link: BRADY TALKING!! AND MORE TALKING
The funds "Hope For Brady" earns each year is my chance, our chance, to help others get the gift of HOPE!
As many of you know the blog train is of course free for participants and recipiants who "collect" our goodies. The blog trains purpose is to raise autism awareness and hopefully a few of the people who collect our goodies will purchase the MEGA kit at the end of the train.  This HUGE MEGA kit was created the first year we started the train. I re-organize the files each year to include the goodies from the previous years blog train. (Each designers creations and blog addresses are noted in the Thank You Document.) So each year the kit gets BIGGER and BIGGER!!  I hope you will choose to participate again this year, and Thank you for your participation in the past!!

Here was my add on kit from last year:

Thanks for your interest!!

Hope For Brady began in 2011 as a multi designer MEGA kit collaboration for which the proceeds were used to help Brady get therapy equipment to help him learn to speak. We accomplished that goal of getting him the equipment!!
Now it is an annual event in which the proceeds are donated to the Hope Scholarship fund for the Son Rise program. This program has been a miracle for Brady…he is now almost 5 years old and has gone from being non verbal…to speaking approximately 20 words in only 3 months THANKS to this program!! If you would like to follow Brady's progress, CLICK HERE
The Scholarship is given to parents to help with tuition to the program which teaches the program principals and enables them to help their kiddos overcome some of the difficulties they face due to their autism.
The MEGA kit is for sale at Just 4 Our Babies. Each year during the annual blog train you can collect extra pieces and goodies to add to your MEGA kit!!
BOTH the BIG and MEGA Bundles include TUTORIALS on how to get started digi scrapping!!
Here is some of what is included in the BIG bundle

This is my son Brady, if you would like more info on Brady, you can visit his care page. Be sure to read the very first entry...it tells about the day of our diagnosis.
Brady has a very busy therapy schedule so unfortunately I have not updated the page a lot, but it will give you some insight into a family who loves a special little guy who just happens to have Autism.
This is one of my FAVORITE pictures of Brady...it captures his loving little personality!

"Hope For Brady"
On March 8th I had a meeting with my son, Brady's development team. Those of you who know me, know that Brady was diagnosed at 2 and 1/2 years old with Autism. Brady is almost 4 now and still is unable to speak. At this meeting one of his therapists suggested getting Brady an i pad. She said there are MANY MANY apps out there designed specifically for kids with autism, to help them overcome their disabilities. One of the apps suggested would help Brady speak, as long as he can not. The app is very similar to a Dyna Vox but rather then costing $4-5000 like the Dyna Vox...the apps for speech are around $150-200. AND the i pad would serve multiple purposes rather then just communication. There are apps out there that will help exercise his little brain and hopefully get him caught up to his peers by the time he is ready for mainstream schooling. So I decided I was going to make a kit, an autism awareness kit for Brady...to help him get these tools. I mentioned my plans to a couple of my friends and BOOM!!! This little idea of mine has blossomed into something COMPLETELY AMAZING!!

UPDATE!!!
From blog post on June 3rd, 2011...

Well guys...we did it!! We got Brady his iPad! Thanks to everyone who contributed to the design of the kit, and to all who purchased either the Hope For Brady MEGA kit or the BIG Bundle...we raised almost enough money to fully fund Brady's iPad! We are still working on earning the funds for the speech program, so if you would like to have a GREAT kit with tons of goodies, most elements and papers are not autism specific, but rather just in the colors red, yellow royal blue and light blue, so the kit would be a great buy for EVERYONE! You can get either the MEGA kit or BIG Bundle if you CLICK HERE!

This is Brady with my aunt, he is doing this neat little puzzle app we picked up for free. I was amazed when he started doing it, that he COULD do the puzzles! AND how quickly he can solve each puzzle! He has REALLY taken to the iPad. There are quite a few more learning apps we have put on the iPad, and Brady's speech therapist is working with us to customize some of the speech apps and pictures to make communication easier for Brady. He is making more consonant sounds, and his therapist is very encouraged by this and feels that even though at this time he has the verbal skills of a 12 month old...that with the basic sounds he is making and with the help of the iPad...she thinks he will be able to speak!

Welcome To Holland
by
Emily Perl Kingsley

I am often asked to describe the experience of raising a child with a disability - to try to help people who have not shared that unique experience to understand it, to imagine how it would feel.  It's like this......

When you're going to have a baby, it's like planning a fabulous vacation trip - to Italy.  You buy a bunch of guide books and make your wonderful plans. The Coliseum.  The Michelangelo David.  The gondolas in Venice.  You may learn some handy phrases in Italian.  It's all very exciting.

After months of eager anticipation, the day finally arrives.  You pack your bags and off you go.  Several hours later, the plane lands. The stewardess comes in and says, "Welcome to Holland."

"Holland?!?" you say. "What do you mean Holland?? I signed up for Italy!  I'm supposed to be in Italy.  All my life I've dreamed of going to Italy."

But there's been a change in the flight plan.  They've landed in Holland and there you must stay.

The important thing is that they haven't taken you to a horrible, disgusting, filthy place, full of pestilence, famine and disease.  It's just a different place.

So you must go out and buy new guide books. And you must learn a whole new language.  And you will meet a whole new group of people you would never have met.

It’s just a different place.  It's slower-paced than Italy, less flashy than Italy.  But after you've been there for a while and you catch your breath, you look around.... and you begin to notice that Holland has windmills....and Holland has tulips.  Holland even has Rembrandts.

But everyone you know is busy coming and going from Italy... and they're all bragging about what a wonderful time they had there.  And for the rest of your life, you will say "Yes, that's where I was supposed to go. That's what I had planned."

And the pain of that will never, ever, ever, ever  go away... because the loss of that dream is a very very significant loss.

But... if you spend your life mourning the fact that you didn't get to Italy, you may never be free to enjoy the very special, the very lovely things ... about Holland.
